This online module focuses on the link between HRM and Organisational Business strategies and operations.

The online module examines fundamental concepts in HRM including the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of HR activities. A focus will be on the fit between HR and Organisational business strategy; the congruence among HR activities; and the role of HRM in creating a high-performance work system. The module also provides a general overview of the functions of HRM, including HR planning and recruiting, testing and selecting employees, employee development, performance management, compensation, employee retention, and managing labour relations. As such it provides a framework for understanding HRM that is further developed in subsequent subjects in the degree. The changing nature of the HRM function and its impact on HR professionals will also be considered.
